Before founding this company, Masato Kataoka had worked for software development division in a major Japanese computer manufacturer for more than 16 years. There, he served as an engineering manager for interoperability programs between the company's de-dupe storage and major backup software products. Before that, he worked on various DBMS projects including porting major Unix and Windows commercial DBMS products, leading storage / DBMS certifications and designing database security best practices. Before that he designed and developed SQL compiler for parallel execution engine on the company's mainframe DBMS.

He has professional experiences in and expertise on RDBMS architecture and designs, network/security/system level programing and network storage technologies.
